AKA, “Choko' Chomp”. This lure is named after our very favorite fishing area down in the Everglades National Park. The action on this underwater lure is one of the best ever seen, period. The faster you reel or troll this lure, the deeper it goes and produces a very erratic side-to-side “wounded” action.
Generally this lure is worked about 12-30 inches under the surface, but if trolled or retrieved faster, it will go deeper. Large tarpon, permit, grouper, snook, muskie and pike have been caught on this lure!
This lure has an erratic action that entices strikes. The Choko' Chomp has a couple of different ways to work. You can pop or snap your wrist back between cranks, which helps the lure bolt from side to side or by varying your retrieve speed you can crank hard, pop, and let rest before continuing to reel in. We have jumped Tarpon on this lure around Captiva and also pulled in some Grouper. This is a great underwater lure that is very unique by design. We have researched and found no other like it. Your reeling speed will determine the depth of this lure. This can be used from shallow to deep water, and is also used for trolling for Mahi-Mahi or other deeper water fish.
